While a funeral is not a sacrament it is connected with various sacraments. Normally a Catholic funeral is connected to the Eucharist and so a funeral takes place during a mass. The funeral is a beautiful ritualized expression of the hope that is found in the suffering, death, and resurrection of our Lord. The funeral itself is really only one piece of the grieving process. Normally there is also the viewing which can contain a vigil prayer service for the deceased. After the funeral there is the burial which can take place immediately following the funeral or follow a few days later.
Please contact the parish office if you have any questions or to make funeral arrangements.
